We are bridging the gap between mainstream and what has historically been referred to as “complementary and alternative medicine.” Our focus is on value-based integrative healthcare.

The U.S. healthcare system is broken – we spend way more than the average developed country and our clinical and patient satisfaction outcomes do not justify the spending. SCU’s solution is value-based integrative healthcare. Integrative means: we emphasize the importance of the person (patient)-provider relationship; we addresses the whole person; everything we do is informed by evidence; we make use of all appropriate disciplines, therapeutic approaches, and modalities in an integrated manner. It is the last piece – the integrated manner that really sets SCU apart from other integrative healthcare providers/systems. We are about getting every person to the right provider at the right time in order to save resources for the whole system, compared to integrative systems where every patient sees every provider.

We are eliminating disparities in healthcare. By focusing on the patient’s whole-person, we make it easy for patients to receive treatment quickly, at a low cost, and without pain medication. Our focus is on nutrition, exercise, and pain management using an integrative healthcare model. Our world-class healthcare providers come from diverse backgrounds in western and eastern medicine. We have trained our healthcare providers as experts in identifying the best services our patients need to become better, faster within our access, equity, prevention paradigm.

SCU’s focus, unlike many other health science universities, is the patient. When the patient is at the center of the educational model, we push students toward a framework that builds knowledge cumulatively and relates everything back to the patient’s well-being. Woven into the student experience is a rich diversity of clinical and laboratory experiences, which teach patient-centered, whole-person outcomes and enable students to practice and master these concepts. SCU has long been at the forefront of embracing a model of healthcare that leads to healthier lives and fewer or less severe health issues, with an emphasis on wellness and prevention as opposed to sickness care.
